When I left Australia in March to come to China, I felt a little apprehensive. I was excited about the adventure ahead of me, but I wondered  how I would adapt to life in another country and whether I would be accepted at Datong High School. 
    Now three months later, I realize I needn’t have worried. The time has gone quickly and I have enjoyed every minute of it. From the moment I  arrived at Datong and throughout my stay, I have been made to feel very welcome by the staff and Senior One students. I have attended various  events with the students and have enjoyed getting to know them. Visiting the Great Theatre, the cinema, watching their military training and  helping judge their singing contest, are activities that have helped me to feel very much a part of life at Datong. It has been very satisfying  and rewarding working with Senior One students. They  have impressed me with their dedication and commitment to their studies and their  willingness to attempt things I have asked of them. Their good manners and friendly nature have also contributed greatly to the memorable  experience I have had at Datong. What has also been very satisfying is students approaching me for extra assistance in English and being prepared  to act positively upon the advice given to them. 
    I have also enjoyed getting to know several students from Senior Two and Three who have been very interested in learning about Australia and its  culture. I have learnt many interesting things about Chinese culture through conversations with many students and this had broadened my knowledge  about China and given me a deeper appreciation of what the country has to offer. 
    I have been extremely fortunate to work with a dedicated and professional English teaching staff who show a strong interest in their student's  progress and overall development. Their support and acceptance of me has made my time at Datong so much easier. 
    Now that my time at Datong has come to an end, it is with sadness that I say farewell. I am looking forward to returning to my home in Melbourne,  Australia, but I will also miss being part of the daily life of the school and the beautiful school grounds which I have walked through many times.  I sincerely hope that I will have an opportunity to return to Datong in the future. The memories I will take with me will be forever lasting. 
    To the school community I say a very big thank you. I wish you all a very happy and successful future and hope that we will meet again some day. 

难忘在大同的岁月

    三月，我从澳洲初来中国，或多或少带些诚惶诚恐。我为即将开始的“冒险经历”激动不已，也为自己能否适应陌生国度的生活并为大同中学认可而揣揣不安。 
    如今，三个月过去了，我意识到当初的那份不安原来是多余的。岁月如梭，但我乐在其中。打我踏入大同的那一刻起，这里的师生员工就让我有宾至如归的感觉。我参加了许多丰富多彩的学生活动，如参观大剧院，看电影，观摩军训，担任歌咏比赛评委，等等。在活动中我尽情地结识学生，融入大同。和高一的同学在一起，我很开心，非常有成就感。他们对学业孜孜不倦的追求给我留下了无比深刻的印象。他们的礼仪和友好的天性更增加了我对大同美好的回忆。尤其让我满意的是，在英语学习方面，他们总是那么主动并积极配合。 
    我也非常高兴结识了几位高二、高三的同学。他们乐于了解澳洲及其文化。在与他们交流的同时，我学到了很多有趣的中国文化，拓宽了视野，加深了对中国方方面面的理解。 
    极为有幸的是，我能和一群非常敬业的专业英语教师在一块学习、工作。他们高度关注学生的进步与全面发展。正是他们的支持与接纳使得我在这里的生活如此顺利。 
    在大同的交流渐进尾声。说再见，伤离别！我渴望回到远在墨尔本的家乡，但我更将思念在大同的日日夜夜和我曾穿行过无数次的美丽校园。我真诚地希望将来有机会能再来大同。我将永远珍惜我与大同的这份情结。 
    最后，让我向学校的全体师生员工道一声“非常感谢”！愿你们永远幸福、美满！愿我们再相逢！
